Problems burning with Nero 7

I started having problems with my Nero 6 and just figured it was time to re-format the HDD and reinstall everything. After setting everything back up and upgrading to Nero 7, i still have not fixed the problems with the burning process. No matter on the type of data, it will only burn 25 to 50% then stop. I get either a write error (which i then removed the device and allowed the comp to find it itself and associate it) and now i get a reset occurred followed by all types of errors. Please can anyone help me out with this? Its really killing me not being able to burn cd's. Thanks.

Your serial number is showing--maybe you should edit it out.
You are burning at 48X, try slowing it down to 4 or 8x. That speed may be good for an audio CD, but data may not work that well.
You are using Nero BackItUp, which is for backing up a hard drive--is that what you want?
You are also using an older version of Nero 7--maybe an update would be good.
Have you checked for a firmware update for your drive?

thanks, can you give me hind on where the SN is in the log? And i thought about slowing the burn speed, but even when burning audio cd's it does the same. Yes I am trying to back up a HDD, so i will give it a shot slowing the write speed. How would i go about updating the firmware?

You have installed a later version of Nero 7 over a known "buggy" version, 7.0.0.0 , uninstall, run this clean tool, http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this version, 7.5.9.0 from here

You are always going to have problems burning DVDs, it is recommended to have a minimum of 512mb RAM for burning, I would consider upgrading.

Updated to the 7.5.9 and the problem still remaind. Not only due to lack of RAM but lack of dvd burner, dvd burning in incapable on this PC. Even when burning audio CDs, this problem occurs. Slowing the burn doesnt help. Upon reading reviews for firmware updating, many say not to update for write errors. Being my girlfriends PC and her on it, i cant say what possible changes could have been made for the cd rom to act like this. Either way i would think that a format would fix any problem.
