1. i have checked the other posts and did not see anything about this.

I am going to buy the pioneer DVD-A04. it is a dvd-r,dvd-rw format burner. i want to know if i can make 1 to 1 copies of movies with it, like making a backup of a regular cd, but with dvd. if so with what software is the best. is this a good drive?

2. what is the difference between DVD-r general and dvd-r authoring. which is good for copying movies?

thanks,
O

I have an AO4, works great
make sure you buy good media to burn onto and then the Progs I use are
DVDDecrypter, IfoEdit, and then latest version of Nero
Had no coasters yet and work in most set top boxes I have tried

Omaro,

From your question, it's clear you have not done any research on this matter.

With very few exceptions, it is not possible to do do a "disc to disc" copy of a DVD in the same way as a CD. Commercial DVD's tend to hold a lot more data than us mere mortals can burn to on our Pioneer A104 (and all the others). You will need to "strip" out parts of the DVD to make it fit, or split the DVD into 2 DVD-R discs.

Hope this helps, it's a very short precise on the subject, but read the notice boards before you spend a lot of money on your burner.

In answer to your 2nd question DVD-R disc are what you and me and most other folks use, DVD authoring are used by commercail companies on VERY expensive burners. They wont work on you Pioneer A04.
