I having been using DVD Shrink for about 5 months and have been burning some DVDs and usually it takes about 30 hr to encode and 30 to burn....which i find acceptable....but all of a sudden after i burned one DVD this week it started to encode 2 hrs long. I dont know what could be wrong...ive restarted my compter...looked at IDE ATA/ATPI controllers and made sure both were set on DMA if availible...so i dont know what else to do....right now im trying to Defragment my C drive and doing whatever it takes to make it get back to normal....could it be that its worn out? hopefully not i dont wanna pay another $80 for another DVD burner....so can anyone give me an idea of what the problem is or how to fix it? thanks

Hi weisnicht
Check the current transfer mode too in the ide controllers for all drives - this should show something like Ultra DMA Mode 4. Make sure it doesn't have PIO listed there.

There's where the slow part is - the drive is in pio mode.

So just right click on the secondary channel - pick uninstall. Will give you a popup saying something like warning you are about to uninstall this device. Click ok.
Now reboot and let windows do it's thing and reinstall.

Check the secondary now and should be in DMA mode.

No you should be fine - once you uninstall windows will detect the ide channel again and reinstall it - this should put it back in DMA mode.

Here's a guide too - link
