I would like to know how can I place an encryption on my backed-up DVD's to prevent people from copying my back up copy of my original DVD?

Thanks

Yes that has been asked before and I'll ask the same question as the answer to other post "WHY".

Someone would only need something like shrink or decrypter and your sunk.

If it can be burnt, it can be read.
Commercial discs are not burnt.

If someone wants to use shrink or another program so be it...I would rather them go through issues to burn it than just to slip it into their dvd burner and copy it for themselves. I was a thought. thanks

MsLoveLee the best way to keep your friends from copying your backup's is don't lone them to the people, that was easy right? you could make a menu and have a pasword to open the disk, but that would take time, it can be done but you don't have the money or the time, to do this. and if you were to use the search button you would of found quite a few threads on this subject, good luck have a nice day

I have a fiend step brother who is stealing my dvd's and I would like to protect my stuff.... Ask before assuming you know something...

I did use the search button and I did search and I did not find the thread. I may not post alot but I frequent these boards for a long time. Your sarcasim is unwarranted. Sometimes you find a thread like the AVItoDVD PAL to NTSC and never get a real answer so forgive me for posting a question I thought was a rare one.

calling cops, doing a search is all good but its not assisting in encrypting my collection.

I checked the link and it showed an DVD Identifier which does not place any encryption on the DVD. SO again Ill ask hoping that someone will be informative and helpful.

Can someone tell me how to protect or encrypt my copied DVD's?

Thanks

The fact is that you cannot copy protect your movies no matter what replies you get here. Sorry but it cannot be done.

hide the backups and make them steal the originals. The fact is that if Sony can't stop people from backing up their movies what would make you think there is any chance you can? I am sick of this question being asked... I live by the theory that there is no stupid question... except maybe this one...

You know guys... I think its really raunch of you to say my question is stupid. First off, Im not trying to be Sony...and Im not trying to please any of you. Im trying to solve a problem by asking a question. I know it can be done because a friend of mine knows someone who does it to his dvd's. I dont know him so I cant ask him so I figured I'd ask it here. I think it really sux that I come here for help and I get a bunch of shit for it.. I wonder how you would all feel if people responded to questions you ask in this manner..

I come here for help like everyone else...if you think the question is stupid then dont answer it.

MsLoveLee if you use google and search what you are looking for you will find a program that will work, depends on how much money do you want to spend on this? you could make your backup's password protected, or just zip them up, and what everyone is trying to tell you! is that if the big companys can't make a dvd that can't be backedup, so what makes you think that you can, they have so much money invested in trying to stop people like you from backingup or copying the disks, so do you see why people are saying what they are saying?

whatever you find to encrypt your discs with, you have to have a player capable of playing it. you could back up in an unusual format or put password protection on the file, but you wouldn't be able to play the discs on a dvd player...you'd be restricted to your PC.

I just wanted a basic block that will not effect it playing on a dvd. I do not care if the person can crack the code so much as it being a pain in the butt to do just to copy the disc. Just a slight deterant. Again Im not trying to be Sony or protect the dvd's from hackers like you. I want to protect it against this particular individual for my personal satisfaction.

I just feel offended at some of the responces I got. I felt like I was in a high school flashback over asking a question. Someone will always have something to say about it so if you don't get where I am coming from then screw it cuz its not worth feeling the way your making me feel just because you guys feel superior.

Your statements are unfounded as others were polite in their answers. SO much Drama over a question, how petty.

I'm going to make it easy for you... simple... Hide the backups and make him take the originals. Simple huh? Being a junior member I would think you have been around long enough and seen enough to know how to do a search, which could have avoided all this harrassment from "hackers like me"
