I recently purchased a brand new Mad Dog external Dual Layer USB 2.0 8X dvd burner which supports not only DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-r, but also dual layer.
However when I insert a blank phillips DVD-R, it will not read it. It does however read every other media I insert into it, such as cd's, and cd-r's.
I think it might be a media problem because I had the same issue with the Phillip's dvd-r's in my old burner drive.
I tried updating the firmware to every compatible option, yet it still would not work.
When I click on it in My Computer it says please insert a blank disc.

I desperately need help, so any comments are appreciated.

Update on my condition.
The dvd burner is recognizing the DVD-r's yet when I try and burn using DVDdecrypter it says, failed to reserve track. When I use PowerISO it says medium not present.
