double sided, single layered movie to one dvd-r

I have been trying to backup "the rock".
it is a double sided disc but single layered.
half the movie is on one side and half on the other. i am having problems getting them both onto 1 dvd-r.

Goodfellas is the same

Use SEARCH MESSAGES at top of the page there
Type in keyword: FLIPPER

(Flipper being a disc that needs flipping over half way through)

I tried to post results but it just goes to search page with an empty field box...
