I am using DVD Shrink and I don't mind compressing my movies a bit say 35%. But some movies are larger than others and I would have to compress it by 70% and the quality is not that great.

Now when I back up a movie there are 8 files that are produced.
1. VIDEO_TS.BUP
2. VIDEO_TS DVD NAVIGATION
3. VTS_01_0.BUP
4. VTS_01_0 DVD NAVIGATION
5. VTS_01_1.VOB
6. VTS_01_2.VOB
7. VTS_01_3.VOB
8. VTS_01_4.VOB

Could I burn files 1 to 4 and files 5 and 6 to one disk and then burn files 1 to 4 and files 7 and 8 to another.

Would that work or would I need to use IFOEdit to split the movie?

There is no way that this process would work using the original IFO and BUP files.
However, you could just use TMPGEnc DVD Author to make two new title-sets with new IFOs and BUPs.
Import VOBs 1 and 2 and author a title-set, then import 3 and four to create a title-set for your second DVD.
Burn them, and away you go.

As yuriv sates, in its present format, this wouldnt work. However, if you were to re-rip the original disc, using DVD Shrink you could choose re-author and then select only the tracks you want. It will then create the right BUP, IFO, etc.. files for you.

That's a good call Oriphus.
Your suggestion wouldn't yield a menu (who needs one), but is 100% freeware-based, which is nice.
Good luck cofrpayne...

There sure is, familiarise yourself with everything before attempting it. I learnt how to do it for about 3 weeks before i even got a DVD Writer.
