This site is what i've been looking for. Great site and thanks in advance for any help. Here is my question, everytime i start ripit4me i get a error saying this... "Your Fixvts path points to DVD Decrypter.exe, but it should point to fixvts.exe."
what the heck is it, and how do i fix it? I've uninstalled ripit4me twice and re installed it and it still wont go away. I've had nothing but problems this last weekend with trying to burn, and found out something in my Nero program screwed up and i re installed and it SEEMS to be working. But I'm still getting that anoying error message. Thanks guys..

The easiest way would be for you to use the installer. This will set everything in the correct path. You can get it here.

Do you have everything already installed? If so a simple change in the settings of RipIt4Me would fix your problems. Otherwise I would just do what dialysis1 said and use the easy installer.

In the preferences you can make the necessary changes. If you used the installer, you shouldn't have to.

In the RipIt4Me window in the upper left hand corner theres a menu named "Logs/Settings" click that and in that menu choose the last option "Preferences". Near/at the very bottom their should be a couple options in a box called "Path to Programs".The very last one lets you choose the path to FixVTS, set the path to FixVTS and you should be good to go. If your unsure of how to set the path I can explain that too but Im short and time and had to cut it out.

You need to edit out your serial # (starts with 1A20....), before someone takes it.

That media is crap.
Slow down burn speed to 8x.
You may also consider crossflashing your drive to BenQ DW1650.

You got it right. I've been on this site for almost 2 years, and it still seems that I'm just starting. As you have been finding out, there are a lot of very knowledgeable guys and gals here. I've learned a lot, and still have a lot to learn. Welcome to the group.

If you decide to crossflash your drive I have all the utilities and the firmware needed to crossflash to a DW 1650.

Thanks for the welcome TS. Im still overwelmed with all of this. im an old fart, so this is kind of tuff for me. I've download ripit4me, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and have Nero gem suite.
I was able to burn some dvd's with just shrink and Nero. than i hit a wall and couldnt burn many movies anymore. so i added ripit and decrypter and now i cant burn a dam thing. i have installed and un-installed each program trying to figure out which one is killin me and i cant figure it out. dont they have a school or classes i could take to figure out computers alittle better? i just retired at 48, and i have time to do stuff now. but i cant even manage to burn a darn dvd right now. i would love to learn how to repair computers, but heck, i cant even burn anything. i think i need someone to hold my hand and teach me this stuff..

Only 48???? You're a youngster compared to me -- I will be 64 in a couple of months. Being retired at 48, were you military? I retired from the govt. last May (40 years), and now work as a consultant with a small firm.

I have most, if not all of the programs you listed, but I use AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 for 99% of all burns and I am very satisfied with them. I have "experimented" with quite a few of the other programs, and I really should learn to use them better just in case something happens, but I haven't taken the time to really get into the programs. I wish you luck with your learning & burning, and if you will stick around here, there are a ton of people that can help you.

I gotta leave for work soon, but to try and narrow the possibilities for your options down. What type of files do you get after you run the files through DVD Shrink? What type of media are you using and what speed are you burning it at?

hey thanks alot you guys. pea.. i think your on a way higher level than i am. i wanna be like you when i grow up, but i dont think ill live that long.. :o) ts.. i retired out of the GM. hired in there right out of high school and things are getting scary in that industry right now, so having my 30 years in i thought i better get out while i can. should i uninstall all those other programs and try the 2 you mentioned? i can get all the way through shrink and when i try to burn it goes on a tilt mood. TS do you just run "only" those 2 programs? let me know what you think i should do. thanks... wigg

I assume by "those two programs" you mean AnyDVD and CloneDVD2? If so then yes those two programs when run properly can effectively break through many common dvd protection schemes.

If you stick a new (replacement)burner in that Dell, make sure the JUMPER is set to CABLE SELECT.
