Ok, I have been copying dvds for a while now, and have never run into a problem until today. I have 50 or so burned dvds that all work perfect in most any set top player. Recently someone asked for a copy of a few of my dvds. I told them I would and proceeded to copy my burned dvds. However, no matter which of my burned dvds I try to rip, the ripper stalls and is unable to rip the entire movie to my hard drive. I know that there is nothing wrong with the my burned dvds because they work fine in any dvd player, I just don't know why the rippers can't handle them. Perhaps it is because I am trying to make a copy of a copy. Any answers or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

If you used DVDxCOPY to back up the first you might well find that you're not able to do a copy of a copy.
If you're trying to copy on-the-fly you may well find that both DVD drives are on the same IDE cable and are not capable of secure data transfer...

I don't use dvdxcopy, or any "all in one" program like that. Generally, I use DVD Decrypter to rip it to my hard drive, then ifo edit to stip out streams and what not in order to get it to the right size, then I burn using Nero. That isn't my problem, my problem is that now that I have a copy of a dvd I burned with Nero, I am unable to put that dvd+r into my computer and rip the files to my hard drive.

Yeah, you are trying to rip a DVD that has no encryption on it. All you need to do is right click on the drive that has the DVD in it, explore, then copy and paste.

I've tried that too, but when it gets to a certain point in one of the vobs of the main movie, it hangs and won't finish copying

Select each VOB and IFO/BUP file seperately and see if it works like that

It works for all of them but one VOB. In that VOB, it hangs at the same point everytime. I thought it just might be something wrong with my copy, so I played the dvd in my set top player and went to that exact point, and everything seems to be fine, no skips, borken frames, or anything. SO I can't figure out why it stalls at that exact point when I try to rip it or copy it. I also thought it just might be that burned dvd, but it does it with my other burned ones too when I try to rip or copy them. I thought it might have something to do with the lack of encryption also, but if that were the case, then I should have no problem when I straight up copy and paste.

put the dvd you want to copy in the drive, open DVD Decrypter and then go up the to file menu and select "file" method of copying then hit decrypt select the folder you want to copy to and your done. if it hangs try opening the movie with any media player software, pause it, then follow the steps above.

That doesn't work, I've tried it. It is not that the files are Win_IO locked and unreadable. As stated before, the dvd is a copy of an original and therefore not encrypted. I have a picture of the error I recieve if that would help anyone. Put your email up in a response if you would like to see the error message I am recieving.

I've run into this problem before but only when I was trying to copy cheap Princo discs. I tried using both RecordNow Max and DVD Decrypter and both got part way through the "Read" process and then stalled out. When I tried to rip them in file mode in DVD Decrypter I learned that either the .BUP files (in some) or the .VOB files (in others) had become unreadable. I tried this in both my Liteon DVD-ROM drive and in my Toshiba DVD-RW without success.

Since switching to Ritek and TDK I haven't had a problem, so I assumed it was just a matter of the dye failing on cheap media (Princo). I should mention that all these discs still played fine in my standalone DVD player even though my DVD drives couldn't read them properly.

might try creating a new dvd with TMPGEnc DVD Author, if you have the software, and use your source dvd from the drive.
