On my new computer that I ordered i got a Integrated 10/100 Ethernet does that mean that I will be able to connect to my Modem wireless right away or does it mean I have to still get a wireless card? Or what ever it means please explain.

You will be able to plug into it, directly. No need for a wireless card.

what do you mean? plug what in to it directly? if you mean ethernet cable then if i had no ethernet outlet on my wall then would i have to get a wireless adapter?

if modem is not wireless & they usually aren't than need to connect network cable or usb cable if modem has that option from modem to computer. if want to hookup wirelessly than need to get a wireless router & connect it to the modem by a net cable. next you have to get a pci wireless card or an usb wireless adapter so can communicate to the modem thru the wireless router.

probably won't see speed difference between wired & wireless as your final speed is determined by your isp

phone connector is 4 wires wide whereas net cable is 8 wires wide. so what do you think? are you on dialup, dsl or cable to get on the net?

pretty sure im DSL bellsouth is my provider. Would the only way to connect to the internet to have an adapter? or does the computer come with something? cause i don't think i can move the modem to my computer.

My advice would be for you to ask a friend, who knows about setting up modems and routers, to help you.

Forget my last post. You need to contact your ISP and have them come out and hook it up for you.

??? I don't really have a problem, my modem is fine... i have other computers that connect wirelessy, I just want to know other ways I can connect to my internet besides spending anoter 40 bucks or something on a wireless wifi card.

clay, so the modem is not physically connected to the computer, correct? how far away is the modem from the computer?

there is no problem with my modem I have not got the computer in yet but I was wondering if there was something that came with the computer so i could hook up wirelessy or even wired to the internet

can get a network cable to go between modem & computer. can also get an usb wireless adapter for about $30Can.
