Hi all,

I recently got Windows Vista Business from work and have upgraded my Main PC at home.

I have used RipIt4Me/DVDDecryper/FixVTS/DVDshrink/IMGburn setup for a while now with no problems on Windows XP and I was wondering if I'm going to have to change my software choice/routine with Vista.

I know AnyDVD/CloneDVD support Vista (according to thier website), Would moving over to those programs yeld better results? or will my previous setup work fine on Vista?

Thanks in advanced

AnyDVD + CloneDVD 2 would be faster and easier to use but not necessarily better.

all the other programs should work with Vista but i am not sure since i don't have it. you can download them and see if they run ok, it wouldn't hurt anything. heres some guides plus you can download software here too

I heard that some versions of Windows Vista has a DRM problem that would interfere with burning DVD/CDs!

yes ihoe that is my understanding that vista will not allow copying of any copyprotected media, that is why a lot of users won't upgrade to the new opperating system vista

I've managed to get hold of a legit OEM Vista home prem 32 Bit.
for a couple of bucks

Not had 1 problem, everything went smoothly, all hardware OK, just download a couple of vista drivers before hand, just in case.

Alcohol / AnyDVD / in fact all Slysoft products working fine.
Only 1 piece of my software is not compatible (Uninstaller pro 6)
but a Vista version will be available in 2 / 3 weeks, according to tech support for a fee of (£5) $10.

But do not touch the 64 Bit version, as I have heard that has major compatible problems.

Ireland.....there is a lot of over hype about the evils of DRM....
WindowsXP media player 10+.
DRM or vista has not stopped me copying any music files or DVD's, or indeed anything

Itunes is the worst, with there AAC protection on Music / Video / Audio-books, But Tunebite software gets rid of that little annoyance.

In fact if you look at media player 11 it allows you to rip and burn with no problem at all.....
No windows media player will play DVDs with out the correct 3rd party codac...no matter how far back you go....

I am quite impressed with Vista to be honest, it has made a massive improvement over XP & 2000..

I havent actually tried the old way, but I kept reading about DVD Shrink not working too well in Vista so I just went with CloneDVD.

I hope someone does try the others though and let us know

I have been using DVD Decrypter->Shrink->Decrypter setup for two years now will no problems at all, but when I upgraded to Vista, Decrypter no longer works properly. I forget the exact error, but it will not let me copy to the dvd.

I'm not sure what to do right now. Should I purchase AnyDVD and CloneDVD?
What other options are there?
Using Decrypter and Shrink was the easiest method!

ok thats better

make sure your burner no faster than 8x and using good media like Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim

also make sure you have the latest firmware update on your drive/burner

and if your using the DVD+R format try booktyping them to DVD-ROM or use the DVD dash R format

I'm not so lucky. I have vista ultimate and when I installed AnyDVD my laptop's Toshiba HD-DVD drive wouldn't work properly. It wouldn't even appear in the "my computer" section. I had to uninstall AnyDVD to be able to use drive. This stinks. I'm glad I still have my desktop on XP for making my backups.

Any suggestions for a work around on the laptop?

I nearly always use DVD Shrink only. Can anyone be precise in telling me whether DVD Shrink does or doesn't work with Vista as there seems to be some confusion? Thank you.

Discmania,

I have had no problems with Shrink and Vista. I'm also having no trouble using DVDFab Decrypter/Shrink/DVD Decrypter(to burn) to copy my movies with Vista.

Apparently there are no problem if you are using any Vista other than the 64 bit Ultimate edition, which is what I currently have. All the other editions are only 32 biit and people have reported no problems with Shrink and AnyDVD.

Has anyone found a workaround for the problem I mentioned in my earlier post in this thread on dealing with the problms on the 64 bit syatem?
