I wonder what's running in the background to suck up so much RAM. Probably not the problem, but you have to be going to the hard drive for virtual memory and that slows things down.

From the log entries above, it looks like a media error. Are you using different media than what you used in the past? Try using known good media. Do a simulation burn and post the log so we can compare with your current media out of the loop.

Just to add to PacMan's post:

Recorder: <AOPEN DUW1608/ARR> Version: A060
You can use a firmware update too - the latest is A110.

This might help with media errors you're getting.

Which brand are you using?

Good ones to use would be Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, made in japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

I have tried to use various versions by uninstalling and reinstalling different versions but none of them work, i will do as suggested and run a simulation and post the log, many thanks for both your replies, i realy aprreciate them.

Many thanks

You're welcome. We'll be waiting to look at your new log to see if we can figure something out from it. Use a different brand disc with the sim as well. The test doesn't write to it, but uses the disc to configure the sim burn.

Success, well pretty much, i updated my driver and out of five films four burned fine, this is the log on the other one, although what differed from before is that it waited till near the end of the burn to tell me of a problem.

Well 4 out 5 is getting better :)

Burn process failed at 16x
Take the burn speed down to 8x.

What media are you using? Poorer quality can have a tendency to fail towards the end of the burn.
The log still has some errors that can point to media. So best to rule that out also.

I strongly advise to change your version of Nero to 6.6.0.18

;) I'd advise both. Personally I suggest upgrading to Nero 7, but that's not as cheap as changing Nero 6 versions.

Yeah i will try to update today, and i will slow the spped down a tad, the discs i use are maxell dvd x16 DVD+R, they have 1-16x recordable speed, i buy them from ASDA, they have served me well in the past but if anyone has any more advice i will be more than happy to listen, and again i appreciate and am grateful for all the help and advice i have had so far.

Brett.

In the past Maxell has had good and bad media. Download DVD Identifier, free, just google. Let us know who manufactured your media. Maxell is a brand name, the manufacturer can be different and change. For instance Sony +R has been both Sony and TY (both good). When buying the same brand and even the same format you run a chance of not getting the same media. Nero ID's the media as well, but DVD Identifier is easier to use and that's all it does.

The speedometer in my car goes up to 220kph but that doesnt mean that I should travel at that speed. It is recommended to burn at around half the rated speed of the disc, I ALWAYS burn at 4X.

When using 16X I burn at 3/8 rated speed (6X). To date I've not had any speed related burn errors. I've done a lot of backups. I suspect I could go to the 1/2 rated speed suggested by gwendolin and burn at 8X, but I don't want to push my luck. A lot of people still suggest burning at 4X. With dodgy media, I'd suggest the same.

Now I'm one that likes speed - burning, car whatever :)

8x is the lowest I will go. And in over 2 years burning at that speed with quality media (that can make a big diff), good burners, up to date firmware and clean pc's - very few coasters. And I do a lot of burning.

@Brett77
Maxell uses different manufacturers - you may have one of the poorer ones this time - reason the aren't doing so well for you now.
Look for made in Japan only Maxell, Sony or Fuji. Then there's Verbatim. You can also get genuine Taiyo Yuden - one of the best- from a reputable online store.

Binkie
I'd like to take Gwendolin's car out on an open stretch and see if it will hit 220 kph. My old cruiser (unmarked police interceptor) registered a calibrated 160 mph, but the fastest I ever had it was about 130 mph. It would go faster, I wouldn't. It didn't have the high speed tires to maintain those speeds. LOL Telephone posts looked like a picket fence.

The analogy is similar to what you said, you need good equipment and media to do a good job of faster burning. I see nothing wrong with it as long as the errors don't creep in. But since my burner will go 6X and the difference is only a few minutes, I don't tempt fate. Sort of like going 130 mph instead of 160. LOL

I know the feeling. I wish I had my old GTX back. I like my cycle for speed and it's a blast through the twisties.

@PacMan777, 220 kph converts to 157.5 mph....speedo goes to that, but I dont think the car would....maybe 135mph would pull it up (about 180 kph)...speed limits on open road is 110kph so I still have a bit up my sleeve (or under my bottom)I have had it up to 150kph but dont tell the authorities!!

Any way you figure it you have enough left to get the local constabulary upset. LOL What model auto are you driving?

Here's where I get my quick conversions on KPH and MPH instead of using a calculator.

http://www.onlineconversion.com/speed_common.htm

http://www.eforecourt.com/mph_kph_speed_convert.htm

1 KPH = 0.62 MPH

KPH - MPH (fractions rounded up)

258 - 160

220 - 137

218 - 135

210 - 130

180 - 112

150 - 94

110 - 69
