Please help...I have an LG 4163B DVD writer and use Nero 6.6.0.18. It successfully writes only 2 out of 10 DVDS. I previously used 4X DVD's and they worked fine. I have now tried Verbatim and HP 16X DVD +R and experience problems 80% of the time. The errors that Nero reports are :- "Focus or tracking error",
or "Illegal block size for command", or "could not perform disk at once".

This occurs when I try writing DVD video or DVD data files. I have attached a log file below. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you posted your last log you have changed your brand of discs, these are HORRIBLE discs and more than likely the cauase of THIS failure. I recommend and use Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)...your last discs coded out as Verbs.... MCC, Media Type ID: 004...Stick with them!!

Burning too fast for these crappy discs, slow to 4X which is the ONLY speed I burn at.

Yikes! Some of those DVD's really stink. How do you know who the actual manufacturer is when you purchase disks. I thought I was getting HP which is considered OK quality - the disks are branded HP?

Do you need an empty DVD to perform these tests with Nero. I would like to test the varius DVD's that I have but cannot get the test started (greyed out in Nero)

No the discs can be written to, Nero should code them for you.

Hi Gwendolin

I have written 3 Verbatims successfully at 8X. Seems like the problem is solved. Thanks for your help...I will try not to buy the crappy disks again.

I managed to use CD-DVD Speed on another pc. The HP (CMC Mag) disks have 100X more errors than Verbatim and Princo that I used previously.

Thank again...Vijen
