hello, newbie here..
I have Nero six and am having issues "adding video files" I have a copy of the new rocky movie downloaded from limewire in AVI format.
I am trying to burn to DVD-R media.. when I go to the add video option I open the file and then nothing. I could let it run all night and the file still will not be added..any help would be appreciated..

are you using NeroVision? that's the Nero program you should be using! how about a Nero log so we can see what's doing, found here:
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

you're firmware is not up to date.... still using BSOC when the newest one out is BSOY....... get it here: LINK
Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition. Doing a firmware upgrade should only improve your drive .... not hinder the drive or hurt the drive, unless you did something wrong with the installation of the firmware or tried to upgrade to the wrong firmware for that drive!
your version of Nero 6 is not the stablest version.... 6.6.0.18 is the most stablest version of Nero 6 and I would update it to that version. Here's how:
Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!
install package one:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539
then install package two:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!
hopefully you should get better results doing the firmware update and the better version of Nero 6! good luck and let me know how it goes after you do the recommendations.

I did update the firmware a while ago and it fixed part of the problem..If you scroll down the history you can see the update.. I also did what you said about using Nero vision and it worked.. just out of curiosity what difference does it make how you access the make dvd screen? by going through Nero vision my burn went as planned but going through smart start it wouldn't work.. I don't get it but if it works what the heck! thanks alot for the help..
