I need some help with TMPGEnc DVD Author. I converted a file from .avi to MPEG 2 with TMPGEnc plus, and then I'm trying to use TMPGEnc DVD author to creat the DVD ready files from the Mpeg 2 file. When I go to pick the Mpeg 2 file that TMPGEnc created, I get an error message that reads,

"A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD."

"The video sequence header is incorrect.
A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD."

Can anyone help me with what is causing this error? What am I doing wrong, and what can I do to fix this error?

Thanks in advance.

Did you convert the AVI using one of the DVD templates??
If yes, did u change any of the standard settings to make it non compliant??

I didn't use a wizard if that's what you mean by a template. I canceld the wizard, selected the file to convert, selected the output file name, selected the file type to save as (mpeg 2), and then started the conversion. I noticed that the conversion went extremely fast (about 20 minutes) compared to what past conversions had went (about 2 to 3 hours).

I had been using the trial version of TMPGEnc in the past. My trial period ran out, so I purchased the plus online version. When I went to use the wizard to convert in the plus version, the mpeg2 option was not available. The mpeg1 file type was the only option using the wizard. This is the reason I canceld the wizard and manually converted the file; the mpeg2 file type was available this way.

Fozzie is right...you need to learn a little more about TMPGEnc.

Even if you don't use the wizard, you have to load the appropriate DVD template before you set your bitrate and start encoding.

REad the guide suggested...

For now, however, you may be able to save the file that you already have. Try demultipleing your MPEG2 stream into its elementary audio and video components (under "file" -> "MPEG tools" -> "demultiplex").

Then, try importing the individual streams into TMPGEnc DVD Author...if nothing but the GOP seqeuence headers is wrong, it should accept the elementary streams, mux them, and ouput your title-set (VOBs and attendant files) with no problems.

A little complicated, but it beats encoding a new MPEG2 file.
