4X Playback Problems

I have successfully backup up many times using DVDXpress 1.0 through 3.0.1.
Each time I was using 2X media and playback was no problem.

I recently switched to DVDX 3.0.2 and 4X media.
The result is a successful DVDX burn BUT
I am unable to play back on either one of PC's DVD drives, or my home TV hooked up Samsung or Toshiba DVD players.
Is this a problem of the software,
the media,
or is the DVD playback equipment unable to read 4X media?
