Ok, I burnt my little project with my DVD burner, a Plextor DVDR
PX-755A (the same as the PX-755SA). It burns up to 8X.

I burnt the project on a Maxell DVD-R 8X 4.7GB disc and then reburned using a Verbatim DVD-R 16X 4.7GB Disc.

BOTH burns were done at 4X. That Plextor will not allow me to do a "Disc Quality" run with Nero7 CD-DVD Speed 4.7.0.2.

I had to put the discs in my Sony DVD-Rom to run those. I actually got a better score with the Maxell disc.

Anyway, here is the test done on the Maxell, not posting the pic of the Verbatim test as it was worse!

Log file of the last burn also. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the NeroVision file:

Plextor might not support the quality scan my LG does not. As for the scan that's not a very good burn. Look at the quality score, 43, poor.

Yup, that's why I posted this stuff. I thought maybe someone might see something thatneeds addressed.

I will give it one more try as in the log file I see it says it burnt the disc at 6X when I know I selected 4X.

Firmware is 1.07 on the Plextor, the latest and nothing else could be found on the site. DMAs are set properly too.

LOL, I tought I would Wow you folks with the great burn and score I got.....NOT!!

Try the burn @ 8X if using 16X media. And you might try 16X on the Verb, I suspect you got CMC Mag discs with the maxells. If made in Taiwan they're cmcmags.

Thx Garmon, I will try a burn at 8X just to see. I did do a burn using Nero Burning Rom on a Maxell 8X at a 4X burn rate. Did a score of 90 on that and thought, ok, getting closer.

When played in the player to TV, all was good EXCEPT one place my mp3 audio music trac stuttered pretty bad for about 5 secs. CRAP!

Let me ask, is there a "BEST" audio format when burning to DVD or are most supported going to be about the same quality and reliability when burning?

I don't do many audio cds anymore but the hundreds I have done have all been WAV and not mp3 cds.

Thx garmon.

Last night I converted the mp3s I am using in my project to .wav files. Didn't get a chance to try them out and I am at the firehall today.

Tom. I will try getting those into my project and doing another burn through ROM to see what I get.

I am already thinking of adding another burner, a better one, to this rig of mine.

Thx for your advice and trying to help out a complete noooooob at this stuff.....it's greatly appreciated! ;-)

Yup, I have burnt plenty an audio CD for wife and I. They all have come out perfect if the orig. file is ok.

Found a Lite-On LH-18A1P-186 for $39.00 ($10.00 rebate) over at Tiger Direct today........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?!

LOL, got home today from firehall and realize by Plextor is SATA, not IDE.
