I don't think this is in any guide or FAQ or any junk like that. I've tried a few times to find the answer, but have not yet found one satisfying.

Anyway, What I'm trying to do is take my DivX files (like anime fansubs, w00t!) and convert them to MPEG2 and then burn those to DVD+R (using BeAll 2.4x media) as DVD Video. yeah, you know as .VOB, like a regular DVD so I could play it in my DVD player. I'm using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, so I can either use the straight encoded DivX files and have Ulead convert them to proper MPEG2 files itself and select several DivX's and just use the proper framerate, resolution/etc. OR I can use something like TmpegEnc to make good quality MPEG2 (preffered) and keep the aspect ratio then have to re-sample in MovieFactory. I don't think I've tried simply using it to encode mpeg2 that won't need to be resampled in Ulead, but... I dunno, I have my doubts that that would do me any good, as the problem is, after I try any of these ways, I get a message saying that it will not fit on the DVD media. W0N'T FIT? even though it said it would fit (not barely, either, I've tried making sure it said it would definitely fit by lowering the quality) and so anyway, you can see my frustration!

Also, it's not that I'm trying the same thing different ways, I've tried several different files this way, without much success. No problems with Mpeg2 files really, but when they come from DivX originally, they just don't seem to work right. And I've tried different amounts of them, too. (like 12 or 13 episodes TECHNICALLY should be able to fit on the DVD, since it should be able to hold that much video, but I've tried decreasing them slowly and I've gotten down to like 5 episodes which DEFINITELY should fit, and Ulead still claims they will not) I don't really want SUGGESTIONS.

If you don't know what's going on here, don't bother trying to help. If you think you know what's happening or better yet you've had this problem and solved it, let me know, PLEASE.

You need to convert the Mpeg2 into VOB format using TMPGEnc DVD Author and then compress it with DVD Shrink. Check the user guides in my signature for help.

right on, that worked. Thanks. One thing, though. After I finally did have success, the DVD plays fine, except for in my PS2, which freezes. Would anyone know why that is? Does it need a mod chip?

If it's a PS2 v4-7 then it should play w/out modchip.
Do not ask me how you can tell what version you have - that is for PS2 Forum

P.S. freezing may be to do with media and / or burn speed perhaps

I checked, and it appears to be at least a version 4. (8 screws, U 0, warning stamp) Well, maybe it's just somewhat defective... We've had it repaired once. Our dog decided it would be fun to piss on. Hopefully it just has something to do with that. I'll send the DVDs to a friend of mine and see how it works out for her. maybe it will make her buy a DVD player. :D thanks guys.
