I pay for 3mb download and 384 upload
..when using utorrent I get up to 320kb download and around 40kb upload.
I have net.max_halfopen set to 50, and ran the patch to set it to 50 as well.
my global maximum connections is set to: 1000
connected peers per torrent: 125
number of upload slots per torrent: 50
I'm downloading a torrent that has enough peers obviously if I'm getting it at 300kb+/sec.. and I'm not uploading over 1kb right now.
should I be able to get faster times? my friend said he can get around 1mb/sec download speeds.
EDIT;
..I read the utorrent tweak guide, and took the dslreports tweak test.
but I'm not real sure how to do the recommendations
here's the link it gave me: http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:3...inXP&via=normal
I have DSL .. and win2k3 machine.

Less than I get, but I don't pay for 3MB download... I think I pay for 1MB. I generally get around 160Kb downstream on uTorrent.

depends on how many of seeders you have, i have the same type of conection, the site where you go makes a different if you get in with private trackers, i have gotten as high as 2800kbs dwn and 200kbs up, are the phone lines to your house new or old? are the phone line going from the outside of your house to your computr ct5 or better

I'm not sure what the cables are..
however when I goto speedtest.net .. I get around 2.6mb down and 376kb up
so I know I'm getting close enough to what I pay for.
....
I just don't know how to tweak my settings on my computer.
and I only use private trackers.

Your friends a liar.
And you said u get about 320kb/s download? Id be happy with that. The majority of the torrents i download im lucky if i get above 30kb/s/
But the other day i downloaded something and got a whopping 300kb/s...and alltime record of mine LOL!
I was happy with that, i think you should be too! :D
P.S, read Camdogs Port forwarding guide : http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/73686
(lots of credit to mistycat for it though...she helped alot.) Personally, i got no results from it, although maybe i would never have got my notorious 320kb/s downloa dif i hadnt done it?? Who knows :D

..I know how to foward my ports.. I also know my friend isn't lying about it.. I would never be able to get 320kb/sec download if I didn't have my port fowarded.
another guy in this thread already said he got 2800kb/sec download.. and a lot of other people get that or at least over 1mb download as well.

Ok....my bad. I just thought that those kinds of speeds were only available using usenext.
Sorry...
Oh and, i got my 320kb/s, AFTER i did a factory reset on my router. So i got it without the port forwarding.
And i was just trying to help ..

13. Do not "bump" up threads that you want to remain on the first page.

are you serious?
I was only bumping because I hadn't got a reply yet.
not because I wanted to be "noticed" or whatever you think I'm bumping it for.
I've used this site for a couple of years now and never had a problem before.

U just contradicted urself lol....u bumped because u didnt reply.... which can only be because u 1)Didnt get noticed and therefore noone was around to see your query or 2) Noone knew an answer.
Bumping would only solve the first on lol.
Neways, yes, i think ddp was bein serious :P
p.s....hard to get hey ddp? i like it:P LOL

ok let me rephrase.. because I hadn't got an answer that solved my question.
regardless I don't see how my thread is hurting anybody.
..it's obvious that you're friends with the moderator and/or reported me.
which I wasn't trying to be "rude" to you or whatever.. but I know for a fact that my friend wasn't lying and that it's not a port fowarding issue.
so your response didn't help.. but thanks for trying to help.

ok let me get in this convo, cause im tired of ridiculous bickering.
That pic isnt working for me, please reup it.
Set global max conenctions to 200-450, 1000 will crash your router.
320Kb is very good, and your on a private tracker, so that is as good as your gonna get. I dont see how you can get faster than that.
As for the argument about not getting over 1 MB/s speeds...well...its definetely possible lol
good look ezkim0x, reply here if you need more help :)

here's an updated picture.
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:1...inXP&via=normal
..also @ DVDBack23:
you get around 500-1300kb/sec with a 1.5 connection right?
so I was thinking I could get at least that if not more after tweaking my settings up correctly.. since I pay for 3.0 (I actually get about 2.6mb though from speedtest.net)

i dont have a 1.5 mbit connection i have a 10.5 MBit connection ;)
i see your problem, your putting 3.0 in the advertised speed, when you should be putting 2700 or something of the sort. Its in KB not Mbit
