Hi,
I'm going to buy a new laptop but there are tons of options and I'm not sure which brands are better than others when it comes to laptops.I do, however, know what I want:

I want a big screen (around 17")

I want to be able to play all the latest games on near best settings

I need a big HDD probably 200GB minimum

I want a fast dual-core processor don't care if it's AMD or Intel; whichever is faster :P

I want 2GB or RAM

I want a DVD+-R DL burner

Any suggestions? Thanks! :D

Looks to be suitable for all your needs.
But your not gonna be able to play games on highest settings. Theres no way on a laptop youl be able to do this at the moment.

IF YOU WANT TO PLAY GAMES BUY A PC

Seriously, even if you found some miraculous laptop that happened to be able to handle all the latest games. Like youl get over an hour of play time.

If you want my advice invest it in a pc and play the best games at best settings easy!

Lecsiy

However if you really need a laptop for whatever reason that laptop looks good :) Just dont expect any benchmarking achievments :P

I need a laptop because my boarding school doesn't allow PCs. One question just came up for me though: do I really need a dual-core processor? I hardly ever use multi-threaded apps like Photoshop, so would a dual-core processor like Intel's Core-Duo really improve my multitasking capabilities over, let's say, an AMD Turion 64bit processor?

Well when it comes to gaming:

Raw Ghz always beats multiple cores.

Meaning at the current state of games its better to have a higher clocked single core than two cores.

You should still get the Core 2 Duo (but try to get the 2.33 ghz model). Even though you don't use multi-threaded apps, the C2D is still going to be the fastest laptop processor.

Also look for the best possible graphics card.
