I have followed the tutorial perfectly as i could and when it converts to DVD it makes a 700avi file almost 4gb DVD. Anyone got any ideas why? please help
p.s sorry for the second post i am new to internet forums.
boy you are a newbie! 700mb AVI comes out to a 4GB DVD! And that's exactly what you want! AVI is a format that is smaller than DVD compliant files (VOB,IFO,and BUP files). now that you have that 4GB DVD burn it to disk and it will play on a DVD player!
IHoe is correct. 700Mb AVI = 4Gb DVD for best quality. You'll want all your DVDs to be as close to 4Gb as possible.
Always go for quality with your DVDs; lose patience & you'll make coasters. Use High Quality (2-pass) for anything other than standard play, and it doesn't hurt to use it for standard play too. As you gain experience, change the defaults to fit your needs.
Also, with Nero; edit the movie and increase the sound to 100% minimum.
Have fun and buy Verbatim and Sony DVDs when they're on sale.
sounds like your media isn't being recognized correctly by Nero or the movie you are copying has encryptions that make the DVD appear too large for burning..... try this guide by Alcohol..... the master of the guide makers:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view....view.cfm/293994
that guide is for ripping a DVD to the hard drive..... but you already have the AVI converted to the hard drive and just use the advise of what he does with VOBLANKER to correct your problem!
its always going to convert the video to be about 4G. but when you add the video to Nero you can reduce the "quality" and bring the size down to about 1.3 letting you put about 3 movies on one disc.
I had the same trouble a while back in that I wanted to burn some TV episodes on to DVD to watch, like you said makes em too big.
Try WinAVI, transfers AVI to DVD amongst other things and allows you to get around 6 TV episodes onto 1 DVD
