Why is that when i burn a video onto a dvd disc into a .dvd format, it doesnt work on a regular dvd player but one that plays vcd's and all regular movie dvd's? im using ConvertXtoDVD program. thanks.

you might try going to videohelp.com and type in your model number of your standalone dvd player and see what or what not type of disks it will play

pio4030- & are you burning back-ups of your own dvd's or are you downloading clips from the internet - sometimes there is a quality issue with downloaded video!

It could be one the following problems -

Some DVD players (especially older ones) just wont play DVD-R's, or

Are you sure you burned it in DVD Video mode? DVD Video disks have the files in a particular order on the disk: First the .IFO, then the .VOB and finally the .BUP. Some DVD players insist on this sequence, others don't care.
