Recently I have noticed that my right click on icons, folders are very slow. It can take up to 40 seconds to open at times and sometimes longer. Welcome to AD, and yes your thread is in the right place.
Assuming that your laptop is virus free, have you recently defragged your hard drive?Quote: It can take up to 40 seconds to open at times and sometimes longer.
Are there any other processes running at those times?
Is your laptop overheating? this can cause the cpu to slow down.
Cheers.

in task manager, see what your performance is & what is running in the background.

I ran the ccleaner and it deleted files from my system. Then I done the cdshredder and that came back clean. Ad-Aware found 3 critical objects and Spybot said congratulations no immediate threats were found.
