Hi I'm very new to this so the questions i ask may seem out dated and old but your help will be very grateful.

I have a few files in AVI. format which i have successfully converted to Mpeg format to allow me to play them on my VCD player. But the quality of the movies when played on my VCD player are very poor. It tends to be slow moving pictures and very "blocky" because the screen picture is bigger to that of my computer. Is there any way of making the quality of the picture better when i play it on my VCD player by using some software?

Once again your comments will be very much appreciated.

As long as your dvd player plays svcd's the easiest way to convert your AVI file (with good quality)to SVCD is with a program called DVD2SVCD. it automates all of the steps and gives you great quality and the best thing about it is it's free!(all you need is an encoder) you can download it from afterdawn on this address
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd2svcd.cfm

Good guides for using DVD2SVCD can be found at Doom9.net. I know the name suggests that the input is dvd but it actually has a range of input including AVI files and you can output to VCD & dvd as well as SVCD.
