have some home movies i want to put on DVD. and i have a sony dvd burner that does all of the formats. i am using sony DVD-R disks. everytime i try to burn it i get an error saying illegal disk

i also tried to put some data files on it like random ones ....ms word, mp3, etc and i got the same thing... i read somewhere that Nero sometimes does not like -RW disks?? or could it be my drive?

here is my drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827131038

Hello.

Unless you use InCD, you need to get it off your system as it can interfere with burning. It can be removed with the InCD Clean Tool.

http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/InCD_Clean_Tool.html

The Roxio CDRAL drivers are installed which may interfere with Nero in some configurations. Unless you're using Roxio software like Easy Media Creator, you might as well remove the driver with the Roxio Zapper.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/EE6000061

You are using a pretty old version of Nero. You migth try upgrading to 6.6.0.18, the best version of Nero 6:

Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

or

Package 1:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Before upgrading, uninstall the current version and be sure to write down your serial number. If you do this you won't need to run the InCD Clean Tool above.

Run the Nero 6 Clean Tool and the Driver Clean Tool:

http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/Driver_Cle...tryChecker.html

You should probably reduce your target output size to 4400mb in whatever authoring software you're using. You're writing up to the edge at 4465mb currently.

You can also output an ISO image file from your authoring software and then burn that with ImgBurn.
