i'm new to the whole piracy thing and a friend has set up torrentspy and utorrent for me. when i choose something to download i make sure it has plenty of seeds and not an excessive amount of people trying to download it, but when it starts to download in utorrent it only detects a couple of seeds or none at all. It therefore downloads at about 1kb/s which is fairly annoying.

Can anyone tell me why my computer might not be connecting or detecting all the seeds that torrentspy says a download file has?

thanks for reading!

It's normal not to connect to every seed and peer but 1 kbps is terrible, try these settings in utorrent and see if they help. At options>preferences>connection, set a port over 10,000 that isn't the default and disahble UPnP. At options>preferences>bittorrent, enable Protocol Encryption and allow incoming legacy connections, Global maximum number of connections - 375 and maximum number of connected peers per torrent - 100. If allowing incoming legacy connections doesn't help, disallow it and if you use a router, it has to be port forwarded and a static ip address will probably be necessary too. Did you friend run a speed test and use it at connection type as that can affect speeds but not to that degree I don't think? Does the port at speed guide show as open (green)? And, finally, your ISP may be blocking torrents, what is it? And, btw, piracy isn't a very good thing to mention.
