Naruto is copyrighted, and illegal to download, in sub or dub format. It is protected by the DMCA even if you own the DVDs.

I'm guessing the mods do; as there are rules regarding pirated materials on this forum.

Well, we can't link directly to copyrighted files, telling where to download and giving details on what to do once you get them is fine, however. And, really, why start spouting copyright shite?

It's a good way to 'cut to the chase' since a lot of people (Myself included for a good few years) don't believe that downloaded tv shows are illegal; especially ones that are publicly aired. But like you guys said, (as far as I know) as long as you aren't providing links, but rather generic site suggestions, it probably is fine.

Althought I feel the same way, tell that to the television companies currently suing youtube for airing episodes of their shows.

The way it falls is that if a show is not licensed yet in america, its technically not really supposed to be illegal, however once it is, it is supposed to be illegal.

Actually; it's still illegal, it's just much less likely to be noticed; as America has the RIAA, and mot other countries don't really pursue this sort of thing in the same way.

It is, however, still technically against foreign copyright law; assuming they are from a country which has[/] copyright law... And Japan does.

It's all very complicated, so while it's not licensed here, it's still illegal; because it is being taken and shared in almost it's complete, original status, with words added for us.

Truthfully though, if the world ran the way I told it to(That's laughable, we'd all die in 72 hours, lol) then companies wouldn't be able to sue for that sort of thing, even if the show [i]is
licensed here, they would be encouraged to find ways to utilize it for profit, just like they utilize commercials on tv for funding. If it were entirely up to me, anything aired on public television would no longer be protected, it would be public material. The only exceptions I can imagine are pay channels, and edited-for-tv films. Although, even if you were to 'public domain' those edits; they'd still be the shotty edited versions, so it would be worth people's money to buy them anyways.

But hey, in reality, I, as a consumer, have a very limited vision of the industry; so maybe my idea of advertisement driven public domain entertainment is just crazy, right? I mean, it's not like it worked for evey other form of media on earth right?
