I'm trying to burn a dvd I downloaded with Nero recode and I keep getting this message
I tried looking through some of the threads on this topic but I'm not sure what the problem is in my case.
I forgot how to post a log file, maybe someone can help me with this
thanks

If you downloaded the movie, then it will probably be in AVI format, if it is so then Recode cannot handle it, you will have to use NeroVision.

Which movie are you doing?
If you're getting that error my guess is this isn't a internet download but a back up of an original dvd.
If that's the case sounds like a copy protection issue.
So here are some options:
Rip with DVD Fab Decrypter 1st then open those file w/ Recode - link
Use RipIt4Me - link.
If you're using AnyDVD - do movie only w/ Recode.

Well Recode will handle AVI's - Recode Digital that is.
You can use that for avi's etc to convert to mpeg4, iPod, PSP etc.
Th other options of Recode wouldn't even show the AVI file to get a video reallocation error so soupnazi would more than likely be doing an 'original' dvd back up,
My guess.

it's a video_TS file
I figured to go for the least compressed to get the best quality
the movie is memoirs of a geisha
I've downloaded and burned other movies with no problems but I'm having problems with this one

What did you rip this movie w/?
This one has Sony's ARccOS on it but most program like DVDFab, RipIt4Me, AnyDVD etc will handle it easily.
Try running the files on your hard drive through FixVTS then try burning again. It's free - here a guide w/ a link to download it.

I ran fixVTS and then tried DVD Shrink and got this same message I got from using Nero recode
It encoded it ok but it could not complete the burning process

Ok what did you rip this with - like decrypter, dvdfab etc & version used etc.
It's looking like a bad rip - you best bet is probably to rerip again.
What condition is the original in?

Hmmm maybe - what did you convert it with 1st?
Still may be a bad file. Use Vision by any chance?
If you still have the original download try playing it back - skim thru it if you can and see what happens. Problems there then yep more than likely a bad file.

when I downloaded it, I just have the video_TS files and I couldn't figure out how to watch it on my computer so then I tried buning it to disc to watch with my dvd player.
I used to be able to download it and watch it without too many problems.
It seems everytime I figure out how to do something lately I run into another problem

That was a helluva big download!
Look in the video_ts folder - have files like ifo's, bup's and vob's?
Try playing the video_ts folder with Nero's Showtime. Open Showtime and at the bottom right there's an option to select source (may just need to move the cursor over some of the buttons there to locate it).
Click on it and pick 'play from folder'.
Pick the video_ts folder this movie is in. Will start playing if all ok.
edit to add: Since the file is already on the hard drive no need for decrypter - you would just use that to rip dvd's to your hard drive.

yeah, it took a while to download, I guess thats why I'm spending the time trying to figure out how to burn it, if not it would have a big waste of time :)
I didn't have Nero showtime installed because there are so many media players out there I didn't think I would need it.
I just had to setup Nero again to get it back
When I got showtime back it played fine.
I didn't watch the whole movie, could it just be part of the movie that is bad?

Could be a part is bad -something's missing to get that error.
Sorry just assumed yo had Showtime installed - other media players depending on which they are you can play from the folder or right click on the video_ts.ifo then pick 'open with' and pick a player.
My math may be wrong or I'm reading the log wrong. I thingthis one you can burn with burning rom or express (no compression needed). Use the dvd-video option. If you get an error about compliance or something click ok and let it go. May work.
What size is the folder?

ok , so I got it to work
I used Nero recode again but instead of trying to 'copy entire dvd- video' I tried using 'copy multiple dvd-videos to one', just thought of it because when I downloaded it, it was seperated into multiple video-TS files.
lo and behold , it worked
not really sure why
