your particular memorex model is a rebadged lite-on drive, meaning lite-on made the drive for memorex and memorex put their name on it and utilzed their own f/w. memorex is terrible about updating/upgrading their f/w and that is why they have compatability issues with new/faster media.
not all memorex drives are lite-on rebadges. some are rebadged nec, pioneer, ricoh, etc.

I knew memorex drives were rebadges of other drives and turns out yours was a rebadged litey. I've had extensive practice/experience with liteys. I've almost always had one model or another, and still do.
you cannot crossflash a drive with some f/w from another manufacturer unless the drive is a rebadge of the drive you want to crossflash it to. yours was already basically a litey sohw-1673s. this won't work for your buddys nec. nec manufactures their own drives. they are not rebadges. he may however be able to crossflash his nec with some f/w from a newer model nec drive.

sorry, you lost me. what do you mean by ltn program? since the f/w was already patched, when you crossflashed all you should have had to do was dl the f/w and then decompress it since it was .rar file and then flash it to your memorex drive.
