hi folks,

I went to update firmware on my pioneer 111D, downloaded the latest firmware from the pioneer site, (saved it to my extra hard drive (E:), shut down pc, rebooted to safe mode (F8 continually during reboot), once in safe mode i coudnt access my E:, rebooted into normal mode , E: now gives me the message the file and directory is corrupted and unreadable, unplugged the drive , rebooted, switched off, plugged drive back in, rebooted, same message, please help, before i panic and put a sledgehammer thru this.

Have you looked in Device manager to see if it's enabled?

in device manager is shows as healthy, drive was working perfect till i went into safe mode, tried chkdsk /r on the drive but still no joy

if i right click on the drive, then properties it shows

type : Local Disc
file system : Raw

Used Space : 0 bytes
Free Space : 0 bytes
Capacity : 0 bytes

there is over 100gb of files stored in this drive, praying for an easy fix without losing them

The files would still be there, it's just they can't be read. How to change this situation around....is something I've never done. Sit tight, others will post again.

Try saving a file to that hard drive. If you can't, you can kiss the data on it goodbye, unless you want to pay some big bucks to recover it.

Have you tried that hard drive in another computer?

WAIT altough ddp links can work im 110% this will work download "recover my files" google it install it then in windows format it (quick format) open recover my files click fast format recover click next choose ure hard drive the one u formatted then click next it will start searching click stop there would b a box saying ure sure u wanna stop bla bla click yes then it will search all ure folders and files and they will have theyre names and everything

Elokito - followed your instructions to the letter for doing it the quick way and unfortunetly didnt recover data, however, i am currently 27hrs into a scan and things are looking good so far, found tons of files and im hoping they will be recoverable once the scanning eventually finishes whenever that may be. Will keep you posted on success rate, a big thanks to everyone that posted replies

And I don't think that any attempt to update firmware did it. And I have no clue why anyone would try a firmware update in that manner.
