i have a socket a board which has an 1.6 athlon in it and want to upgrade the chip. which r the best chips i can put in it? thnx

Hmm, depends on what socket the motherboard is... Currently the newest amd sockets are Am2 and 939 with Intel's being socket 775. Try checking your motherboard's manual to find out the socket.

The box said "Requires Windows 98, NT, or better"... So I installed Linux! :P

lol i like that :)

you need to check with your mobos manufactor, if your lucky you can just flash your bios and drop in a xp3200.

edit

you might find it hard to get your hands on one tho, and you might be unlucky and not be able to fit anything better, it might be cheaper and easier to go for a 754 or 939 mobo and cpu.

just a thought.
