There are many ways to do what you want. The best way is to download the file(the stream)rather than just recording the audio from the computer sound card. Here is one of many programs that download streams.Use the v0.3.9 beta version. When you install the program, click on "file" and then on "open url".Then put the url of your desired stream into the program. This program is FREE.

These programs will record anything that you can hear on your computer. They will also edit as needed and output a file in different formats.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
Both programs are free.Look them over.

Hello All

I am a BBC radio 1 fan and currently have to record and the 'listen again' features onto minidisc then convert to mp3. I tried the software listed below below without sucess. Am I not using it properly or this software note able to record BBC media streams?
Can anyone recomend another program? Thanks in advance

The software you list can record audio from the sound card. It does not download the stream. To download the stream you need one of these programs....
http://www.screamer-radio.com/
http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fi...escription.html

Once you download with these, then you will need one of these to edit(trim) the file to your liking...
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

All these programs are free.Note the file format that each program can work with(such as mp3).On the download programs, you will have to find the stream URL to put into the program.Good luck.

Thanks for that, I have installed http://www.screamer-radio.com/ and can record radio 1 live fine as an mp3. My question is can scream radio or any of the others you mention in your post record a non live stream such as that played when you select the 'listen again' function from the following url http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/innewmusicwetrust/petetong/
I can't get the software to detect what is playing

The problem with getting the streaming audio on some sites is finding the proper audio stream URL.There are several ways to do this.As a last resort you may want to get this free program and learn to use it.It takes some practice....

Good luck.
