hi i just bought a playstation 3 for my daughter and i just want to say it plays blueray dvds and HD movies and every movie i have tryied so far , it might be cheaper than buying a blueray dvd player as the play station cost me £429 pounds and i got 4 games and had a choice of a blueray dvd or a HD DVD so i took the hddvd as i allso have a HDplayer and i never played an hd on it and i wanted to see if it was any good or not as it was ownly £40 pounds but to be honest i never yey played a blueray yet but the manual says it does and whe i was buying it i was told in the shop that it played blueray movies dvd, ok hope its something to think about .
