Media player reboots system

I am having a problem with media player and Media center rebooting my system when I try to play a video like a mpeg file off the hard drive. But they play DVDs just fine. I have several other none Microsoft players that play the same OK. I am running windows XP media center edition 2005, my system is a Gigabyte K8U agp. With a all in wonder 2006 video card , AMD Athlon 64 3300+ processor and one GB Ram.. I downloaded and installed media player 11 and for a few hours the problem went away only to return. I had ATI media center installed but since it did the same thing uninstalled it.. I have got all the updates from windows update but nothing seems to help. Hope some one has had this problem and can advise me as to what to do.
