ATI Radeon 9600 problems

I just got a new ATI graphics driver.
ATI Radeon 9600 Series.
I first booted and deleted my ol graphics driver, then plugged in the video card and connected everything. But once i start up my machine, the screen stays empty. I've tried unplugging the card and connecting my screen to the built in graphics driver on my motherboard and it still won't work.
I'm using ASUS P4P800-VM motherboard and i think i uninstalled something that i shouldn't have uninstalled, but ican't really figure out how i could correct the problem :/
