Ok, I'm about to give up. I've tried everything with this error. a few weeks ago I was able to burn just about anything I wanted. Then all of a sudden, Nothing. I did install Nero 7 but that was after I started creating coasters. I have used Memorex, verbatim, and hp litescibe media, all have failed miserably. I've also used RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink, Nero 6 and 7, 1click copy pro, all of which use the Nero engine to burn, correct? There was another program that I tried that used other drivers to burn and it failed with pretty much the same excuse. Please don't tell me that my drive is bad? LOL It will read dvd's and cd's and will also burn cd's. Just doesn't want anything to do with burning DVDs. The drive is at the end of the cable one ide 2 with dma enabled. Intel Celeron 3.06 Ghz with 768 megs of ram, and system controled page file.

below is my Nero log. can someone please take a look and tell me what i'm doing or not doing to screw this up?

You should edit your Nero serial number from your post:
Quote:
1A20-8218-0270-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx*

Quote:
Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC.MAG.
Media type ID: M01

Using CMC.Mag media is a sure fire way to have problems. Either now or later.

Nero was writing successfully until it ran into this:
Quote:
7:32:02 PM #24 CDR -1064 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Invalid block address

You could also try a slower burn speed, say 4X. I'd still try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media though.

You should update your Nero to 6.6.0.18
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.6.0.16

You can get it here at Afterdawn or other places. I've got it here at my website as well:

@fastfrank...... you missed one:
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2283279 (507:23.54, 4459MB)

writing too close to the outer edge of the disk which is CMC MAGs crappy Memorex media! this would certainly cause this:
Quote:
7:32:02 PM #24 CDR -1064 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Invalid block address

adjust the amount that can be written onto the disk to 4300MB-4400MB! And use better media!

I was thinking that the failure occured at around 2500 -3500 MB because just a bit over 5 minutes had elasped during an 8X burn.

If you used Verbatim, I'd like to see the log from that.

The burn was occuring correctly until something happened. The most likely thing is a bad area on the media, which is what your log indicated. The area may be written if more time is allowed... Slower burn speed.

Slowing the speed down and avoiding the outer edge as Ihoe mentioned may work. Try it.
