Hi Guys and Girls,

I am having problems burning White Datawrite Ritek 2x G4's. My Pioneer 105 used to burn them with no probs at all but now they keep coming up the the dreaded 'Power Calibration Error'.

Can't be a media problem as it used to burn the same media in the past.

My 105 is capable of burning Traxdata riteks and Yellow Datawrite Riteks but not these anymore.

Here are my device settings:
Disconnect = On
Sync Data Transfer = Off
Auto Insert Notification = On
DMA = On

My System is 1800
80 GB Hard Disk
Pioneer 105
256 MB Ram

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any help,

Sabrelord

Well it probably is a media problem. Although the discs appear the same they are probably from a different factory and so there's no guarantee of quality even with Riteks. You can check the make by using Advinfo Tool; http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/advdinfo.cfm
You must select the leadin option to display the disc make. I would suggest you get some decent 4x discs for your 105 burner.

You could also try updating your firmware to the latest version which might solve the media/writer conflict.

Here's the link: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/pioneer_firmware_upgrades.htm

Good Luck :D

Hi, Use caution and make doing the flash your very last step: My NEC1300A was flashed to 1.07 from 1.06, it burnt WHITE -R 4X PRINCO like a champ! Then its not doing them anymore; Nero gets "power calibration error" and XPRESS says burn done in two minutes....crap. SO; bought some MEMOREX -R 4X (PRODISCS03 per ALCOHOL120%) and they burnt fine, MEMOREX +R 4X (RICOHJPNR01) burnt fine. PRINCO(PRINCO) burnt fine....at 2X!
I got the PRINCO from allmediaoutlet.com; good price for 50.
My suggestion is that you reduce your burn speed, although this is not possible with XPRESS.
Best of luck,
G
