Hi, is there a utility available to enable me to convert a NTSC AR Max game saves to AR MAX PAL saves. I've looked at using PS2 Save Builder but after downloading it from and doing an online scan of this program it seems it could have a virus. Any advice appreciated, thanks
It's compressed using a program that's often used to pack in viruses in programs, and it makes antivirus programs not able to identify any virus in the file.
I've been using it, and it seems ok to me. Haven't had any viruses on my computer after using it.
And about converting, I dont own any ARMax so I'm not sure if it uses the same system as a regular memorycard does. If you convert, lets say a... Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Save file from NTSC to PAL, it won't work. It has some strange file, looks encrypted, included with the "regular" files. And changing the names of the files doesn't work either :(
But as I said, I'm not sure if it does work with ARMax. But the program sure does :)
Ok I tried converting AR Max saves from NTSC to PAL with PS2 Save Builder and it works a treat (it also works the other way PAL to NTSC) so I thought I'd post back with the info:-), get the program here:-
Hi there I have a problem related to this thread. All the files on my ps2 memory card became corrupted and therefore had to format it using max memory, thus i lost all my saves and want to put one from the net on my memory card to replace my PAL final fantasy XII save. I have action replay max and want to take a .max american save file and convert it to a pal(uk) .max file. Alternatively is there any other way to convert NTSC saves to PAL. Iv tried using save builder but it does not recognise .max files? can anyone help me
Dunc if you have Save Builder then you should be able to convert AR Max saves from NTSC to PAL, I've converted a few of them. Have a look at my previous post, I've linked to a website that tells you how to do it using PS2 Save Builder I've also linked to a website where you can download the PS2 Save Builder Program. I'm not that good with all this stuff, but I found it very easy to do. Good luck
On that site, ps2savetools, there is a program that lets you convert max to other formats. I'm not 100% sure though, and I'm at work, so I can't check right now. (Site is blocked, strangly this site isn't :))
I had to use it to convert max to another format, and then use Save builder to convert it to .psu, or the other way around.
I'm really bored now, but I'll post later today with more info :)
Back home. You can use Save builder to convert .max saves.
But to change the region you will have to use PS2SIDC, it's a program that lets you change the Region of the save file.
get it here http://www.ps2savetools.com/download.php?op=getit&lid=28
but to load a .max file into that program you need to convert it first to either one of *.xpo/*.spo/*.xps/*sps/*.psu/*.psd.
And that is made in Save Builder.
After converting, load the file and change the ID from BESLES to BASLUS, with the numbers left as they are. Then use Save Builder again to convert back to .max
Edit: You could use Save Builder to change the region too by just editing the Root/ID entry from BESLES to BASLUS, and same here, keep the numbers as they are.
And then change the file in the list from BESLES to BASLUS.
(BTW, Gamefaqs.com has alot of US .max saves, incase you didn't know that :D)
