I have the exact same problem on my Windows Vista Computer with Nero 7! I have even installed Nero 7 on another computer with Windows Vista and it also has the same issue. It seems to be with all XviD video files. I can play the video files just fine with all other multimedia programs. When I go to Make a DVD with Nero 7 or use Nero Showtime to view it, the video is choppy, slow motion and audio tremendously out of sync. I have sent an email to Nero Tech Support and am wating for a reply.
I have all codecs installed, XviD, DivX, etc.
I never had this problem with Windows XP and Nero 6 and I am even using the same video files!

Yes, I have been working on it for days now. Thank you for the reply.
If you find out anything, please post it. Some else has to have the same problem as us...I have had no luck with Nero.
Thanks

Hi fast599 n gwickers
I'm having the same issues, but on WinXP. I've been trying to solve the issue too with little success. But I have diagnosed that it is the Nero install and not the XviD files that we're using or the codecs.
I'm toying with reverting to an earlier version again (7.2.3.2) which seemed to be stable for my use. Let's hope that 'someone' finds the solution.

all...
Been doing some more diagnosis and noticed when I select 'Edit Movie' and play the avi's they are played in Slow Motion too.
However playing the avi's using Media Player Classic or Windows Media etc the AVI plays fine. Interesting.
Maybe this helps in finding a solution.

all...
following up my last post it looks like I've been able to come to a solution.
Here's what I did.
..Closed down Nero.
..Opened Windows Explorer and drilled down to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter
..Renamed two files, NeAudio2.ax to NeAudio2OLD.ax and NeVideo.ax
to NeVideoOLD.ax (rename them rather than delete them jic you
want to reinitialise them).
..Open Nero Vision and select Options and Disable SmartEncoding.
When I renamed the 2 files above and opened Nero Vision and selected 'Edit Movie' again the avi's played properly and no longer in slow motion. I'm testing a burn currently and will confirm success.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi all...
Sorry been at work - but I just want to confirm that workaround did the trick for me.
Video running at normal speed and audio is synched to perfection.
By disabling the two Nero encoding files it forces Nero to use other codecs that you have installed on your system.
Another thought I had in mind to try is to grab these two files from an earlier Nero release I have on my other PC and copy these to the offending Nero - that may solve the problem too...
Sillycybe... perhaps you could try the above to see if that works?
fast599... do you have other codecs installed on your system?

Hi Gwendolin
Thanks for chiming into the thread... nice to hear someone that has more knowledge.
So you believe that version 7.5.9.0 is the best of the bunch? And that will fix our nasty problems?

Gwendolin,
Cheers! Thanks for the idea...I back peddled from Nero 7.8.5.0 to 7.5.9.0 and that did the trick. Playback of AVI are synced back up, maybe this issue will be cleared up with Nero after another update or something...thanks again.

Download the latest version, which i believe is 7.8.5.0. Do what tropolite stated in his post above. Then download the latest version of FFDShow. This worked for me and its all in sync when burning XviD avi's.
