I have an Acer notebook with Winxp sp2 dual core, pretty new.
My problem is that it's really slow to boot up. Takes about 4 minutes and 20 seconds to boot up. Ran a virus check, ran an adaware did a defrag and still it's slow. Does any one have any ideas?
I think that's it's do to all the auto starting programs that i have........could that be a possibility?

If you have many icons in your tray at bootup, you can disable them via msconfig. It will make a big difference in the bootup time, and it will reduce the amount of system resources being hogged.

No. Task Manager only disables them temporarily. The next time you boot up, they will be running again.
For msconfig, go to Start/Run, then type in msconfig, and hit OK. On the next screen, click on Startup, and uncheck the boxes to the left of whatever you don't need to run at startup.
