m3 perfect sd 4gb sd problems

i bought my 4gb sd card the other day, so i transfered all the data from my 1gb to it, and put it in my ds
when i power on my ds it says unable to read sd please format (or something like that) the sd card is a fat32, but when i put in my 1gb fat32 it works flawlessly

so my question is how do i get it to work in my ds or am i stuck w/ my 1gb
