hello.. new to this forum, but have been told it is very helpfull

I just bought a new tv which i can hook up my pc to, which will allow me to surf the web through my tv. i also have a panasonic 5.1 surround sound system set up..

my problem is.. i have the pc hooked up to the t.v, and then i put a double way headphone jack in to the suroound sound. So when i watch movies on the computer and try to get the surround sound, i get alot of sound distortion. The surround sound works perfect and is pretty good, but the distortions get very annoying. i bought brand new wires and everything and still get this distortion... any help would be very appreciated...
