Hi dabas88
Here's a couple of suggestions:
Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG> Version: 2.16
Update the firmware to 2.1B

Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AM3
The TDK's you have are made by CMC - not the best. So try using better media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

The illegal can be caused by the firmware of you drive not supporting the media you are using. So updating it and/or switching media should do the trick.

Hi everyone...I am a little confused. I think I may have 2 different problems, but first let me tell you what happenned. One day I was burning, the next day, without changing anything, suddenly I get an illegal disc message. I also got a cannot perform start of disc at once error. I have been reading along on these threads and I have tried everything, except getting a newer version of Nero, because it has worked well for me for the last 1 1/2 years, and I don't know why it would just stop one day. I have used many types of DVD-R, the last pack being the kodakones and I don't think I made a single Coaster until now. I just returned a spool of kodaks because I thought they were the problem, but I got home with a spool of fulifilm DVD-R and they won't work either. I still have a few of the old kodaks left and I can burn to them with no problems at all, and I found a box of memorex DVD-R from a while ago, and I can burn to those no problem. Any ideas?? Thanks...Mark. Here is my log, the latest one. Also I am using an HP dvd burner and I got the latest firmware like you said, even though I have been using it for a long time with whatever came on the installation cd.

regarding the above message, I don't know if it is important or not, but i can still burn cds very well. Also, there are a couple of spelling mistakes in the above message. I am using fujifilm DVD-R now. I have used them before with no problems.

@Marki2000, In the future it is best if you start your own thread, it becomes confusing when anothers thread is hijacked.
