Checj the com ports settings.
If it's USB then make sure you have it set in bios to work at high speed 480mps.
If it's serial then make sure the speed is set to the max the printer will handle.

BigDK, they haven't made serial printers in years. that printer is usb.
bpanther, do you have usb2 on your computer as it sounds like it is now running on usb1 which is a lot slower than usb2?

I wasn't going to start looking up the spec, I was covering all options.
Just like the one you helpfully repeated for me :)

try connecting the usb cable to your other usb ports to see if there is a speed change or not.

I might have a few things to try. I have had the same
problem with this Lexmark printer, Says
it is compatible with XP, my a** it is!!! I have the X75
working, finally. Under device manager
check and see if under the USB controller you have Sis
USB. If not, go to www.usbman.com and download the XP
drivers for it. That made a big difference. The other
thing to check is under printer properties>advanced>print
processor> make sure the print default data type is set
to RAW. Since correcting these two things the printer
has been behaving itself in general. Still have the
occasional glitch but nothing like the hang and can't
delete problems we used to have. Hope this helps - I
know have frustrating that stupid printer is!
