Pioneer A06, Philips DVDR890 and DVD-Rs

I have copied my ?analogue? family camcorder recordings onto DVD+RW using my Philips DVDR890. I then copied all the files from the one DVD+RW to one DVD-R using the Pioneer A06 since all dvd players can play DVD-R and I want to share my camcorder recordings with my family. The DVD-R as expected plays in all the dvd players in my family except on my own Philips DVDR890. Philips says that it should work if the A06 has used MPEG2 format. Can anyone help please.
