I have a number of XviD AVIs that I have downloaded. I want to put more than one of them onto DVD. I'm looking through the guides but I'm not sure exactly what I need to do.

From the guides, I think I have to convert them to MPEG2, and then use DVD_Lab to burn them onto DVDs. Is this correct?

I'm kinda using this guide:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr.cfm

But they are not SVCDs, they are XviD AVIs.

So I'm reading this guide, too, using TMPGEnc to encode to MPEG2:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/..._dvd_page_4.cfm

Thanks. :)

If you have Nero Vision 4 (Nero Vision express) you can use that.

If you want freeware, use

http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe

Import the file(s) just keep selecting AVI's.
Two hours running time would be about the maximum.
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

Use Nero burning ROM to burn the files to DVD.
Alternatively, burn with freeware, DVD Shrink + DVD Decrypter.

Thanks I will try that. I have an HDTV 16:9 ratio and I'm in North America. So I'll do the 16:9 and NTSC.

I do want to burn multiple onto a DVD though, do I need to use DVD_Lab or something that will allow me to put in a menu to select which shows I want to view?

Divx2DVD does not create menus.
It outputs the file (or files if you give it more than one) to a dvd compliant folder that any dvd burning program can use to create a dvd disk.

Example; if you bring in four half hour episodes, then it will output four 'VOB' files to the folder, each 'VOB' corresponding to one episode.
You can burn this folder to a DVD and you get your four episodes played in sequence.

If you wish a Menu you must use authoring software.
If you used Nero, the sequence would be (Assume Nero Vision Four):

Make DVD > DVD Video > Add video Files.

Bring in your downloaded AVI files which add up to around two hours total.
Proceed to the Menu building stage, Nero automatically assigns each file a menu selection.
You may accept the defaults or modify the layout.
Proceed to the simulator and test the menu operation then burn.

You might wish to try ConvertXtoDVD
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

This is the successor to Divx2DVD (not free) but it makes a menu and burns
your disk.

Final note:DivX2DVD (and ConvertX) are good for converting AVI files to DVD.
These programs produce files which are synced video to audio.Sadly, some programs are not as good in this respect.
My preference (if I wished a Menu) would be to use DIVX2DVD to convert the files to VOB format, then bring these VOB files into Nero and burn.

I think you can try winavi video converter. It can convert multi files to dvd without reauthoring. And it also supports to burn.

Okay thanks. I don't have Nero, would probably have to buy it. I'll see about the free trial first.

Hi,

Since you are going to trial Nero, you can also trial VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

Most people who already own Nero, do not want to purchase an other software :)

On the project window, where you are adding the files, click 'More' on the bottom of the screen.
Video Options > DVD Video > Video Quality.
You can adjust the quality downward to allow more video on the available space..
Recall that the AVI is a compressed version of a large DVD and the quality of the final DVD is not going to improve by squeezing in too much content..
