How do I increase the volume? The first 8 seconds of a 41 second video can be barely heard. This is the 8 second clip... http://www.fototime.com/58E6BF552A63DC2/conv.wmv or (much larger file) http://www.fototime.com/58E6BF552A63DC2/orig.avi Perhaps there are better programs for increasing volume?

Thanks

I saved the original audio with Virtualdubmod.
Amplified it with Audacity
Imported the new audio with Virtualdubmod and compressed the audio and video.
Audacity allows a section of audio to be selected for filtering.

attar,

Thanks so much! I can't wait to splice the clips together. I have VirtualDub 1.6, but don't think have ever used it.

Glad you like it, but you can probably do a lot more to de-emphasive the background hiss if you just tweak the areas between the spots where the wee girl is talking.
Audacity is freeware as is VirtualDubMod.
Good luck.

Well now I'm having a problem combining the two clips to make one clip and one title.

Should I start a new thread? Perhaps in the newbies folder.

I have XP MCE and Nero 7 Ultra and Tsunami Video Encoder Express

Possibly there is a mis-match between the clips.
You might try to resave the doctored clip to uncompressed video and no compression Audio with VirtualDub

Run VirtualDub.
File > Open Video File [load the clip]
Video > Full Compression > Compression > Uncompressed RGB
Audio > Full Processing Mode > Compression > No Compression PCM
File > 'Save as AVI'
that way it will reflect the settings of the original clip that was downloaded.

However in this case, I would use the whole original file and make the adjustment using VirtualDubMod and Audacity in the area affected.
If you wish, PM me and I will send the steps that I used to adjust the clip.
