Hi all,

I have several problems:
1. I can't load Task Manager
2. I can't load regedit.
3. Every 10-20 minutes annoying popups will come up no matter what I'm doing (the popups aren't just for one company...they vary).

I have:
-ran my updated anti-virus program Freedom (it shows nothing)
-ran updated Ad-Aware (it keeps bringing up various things...it brings up something called ZGuide (or just Z) everytime...I delete it and it comes back)
-ran Trend Micro's HouseCall (this shows that I have WORM_VB.CJV and BKDR_VBBOT.AC...the affected files are dllhost and p2pnetworking.exe, neither of which can be deleted manually)
-ran Spybot (it shows nothing)

I initially noticed the problem because something called "Z" was trying to login to my paypal account and a popup kept coming up saying it couldn't.

It appears that the two trojans keep bringing back a folder names "_" in "Documents". I keep deleting it and it keeps coming back. Every so often my anti-virus program will detect a running virus in that folder and delete it...it does this usually once or twice a night.

I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the neccessary updates.

Not sure if I should include the HiJack this report or not so I won't.

Thanks in advance,
Crystal

Thanks in advance,

On advice of a friend I started the system in SafeMode.

-I manually deleted both "dllhost" and "p2pnetworking.exe".
-I did a search for anything with the term "dllhost" or "p2p" and nothing is showing that shouldn't be
-I rescanned system with AdAware...it came back clean
-I rescanned with antivirus scanner...it came back clean
-I rescanned with HouseCall...the first time it gave me those 2 trojans but HouseCall fixed it...I rescanned and it came up clean
-I rescanned with Spybot...it came back clean

Yet the popups continue!! One advance I made is that I can get Task Manager to load and same with regedit.

Here is the new HijackThis report:

You have an interesting line in your log:

O2 - BHO: 0 - {8C296707-4298-4859-D1A3-596393B60A09} - C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\lacuryjyz.dll (file missing)

Not sure about this because there aren't any other companion lines I was expecting, but give this a try:

1) Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

· Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

Your not going to want to hear this ,but what you have is unfixable, same thing happen to me, no matter what I try, I could not get rid of the trojans. I tried adaware , Spybot, HijackThis, cc cleaner what you are trying. The only thing I would recommend at this point is webroot spysweeper and that's a longshot. My recommendation is save all your important documents/programs etc onto a cd/dvd, reformat your harddrive and reinstall your windows xp back. When you got everything install do not log back into the internet(unplug the enthernet cable from your computer)until you do the following. 1.)install a firewall(recommend Zone Alarm, I don't trust the built in windows firewall 2.)install AVG antivirus free edition(or any of your choosing) 3.)get webroot spysweeper (it does work) 4.)install Firefox 2.0 with noscript extension (make this your default browser 5.) install a free program call dropmyrights (it's a program that prevents the browser from making changes to the windows system files) 6.)delete all the shortcuts to internet explorer (never use this browser forbid it from contacting the internet in your firewall). Don't believe what they say that internet explorer latest version is safe. You can go to autopatcher .com to download the latest updates so you don't have to use internet explorer. My computer is winxp pro sp2 set up as above, I haven't had a virus, trojan or my browser homepage hijack in over a year, and I surf everywhere.I spent a week trying to repair my computer before I saw it was hopeless. I doubt even the geeksquad would be able to fix you up. I didn't want to reload windows but in the end it was a good decision for me.

Actually it isn't hopeless...at least not in my case. I managed to fix this myself. After my last post I just rebooted (duh lol) and it went away. All systems are a go for me now lol. And in case any one cares I don't get any viruses, trojans, hijacks etc either usually...the last time I did was over 3 years and that was only because the default firewall was down when I connected to the internet.

Seens as the problems are fixed I am not going to try cleaning or fixing any weird lines as they don't appear to be affecting my system. I don't want to mess with something that isn't a problem at this point.

I've never had a problem with it and I found ZoneAlarm blocked everything or had a billion annoying popups asking if you wanted it unblocked. Plus it hogged my whole system it seemed. Thanks for the suggestion though.

install AVG antivirus free edition(or any of your choosing)

I already have an anti-virus installed and a tech reccommended me to not have more than one as they usually interfere with each other and cause problems. But if I didn't have it I would definately use AVG.

My default browser is Firefox...however I found that even with the IE View add-on etc certain sites just don't load properly...or keep reloading etc...just too annoying for me (and no I don't want a fix to this I don't mind using IE for the little amount I do).

Yes I do know both of them...they are only there for convenience purposes.

Thanks for the suggestions,
Crystal

p.s. When all seems hopeless try the easiest solution lol (worked in my case...a simple reboot).
