I've got an AVI file - in english - that also displays english subtitles that are annoying. Is there some way to get rid of these to play it on my DivX home player (or) somehow get rid of them by converting to DVD with Nero?

If they are below the image then VirtualDub can be used to crop them.
If they are on top of the image I believe you are stuck with them.
