iTunes keeps giving me an error message... HELP!

I am trying to download some songs from iTunes since I got a gift card for my birthday. I picked out the songs I wanted and when they attempt to download, I get the following error message:

There was a problem downloading "name of song". The network connection timed out.

In the actual download window it says stopped (err = .3259). I keep trying to download, and after many attempts I was able to get a few to work. However, it keeps doing this. Any suggestions on what is wrong??

I do not use a network and don't laugh but I am on dial-up. (when you live in the sticks, that is the best you can get!) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
